Course overview
Spanning a year, our comprehensive courses will expose you to topics including linear algebra, calculus, programming, discrete mathematics, research in mathematics, probability, geometry, and statistical practice.
Youll be introduced to growing fields through subjects like critical evaluation in data science, and mathematical data science. Youll also gain expertise in research. Guided by our expert staff, youll study mathematical reasoning and arguments to open-ended problems. Learn to contribute effectively and strategically to your future workplace by developing skills in communication through a discovery project.
By the end, youll be able to demonstrate skills for growth industries like banking or defence. You could step further into research. Either way, youll be ready to help advance human knowledge through mathematical prediction and innovation.
What youll learn
Our Diploma in Mathematical Studies will provide you with the knowledge to thrive in our data-driven world, gaining insights into the cutting-edge technologies shaping our future.
Youll study calculus, linear algebra and statistics. Youll be introduced to fundamental mathematical structures such as functions, vectors, complex numbers and matrices. This knowledge is vital for many fields like data science, engineering and finance.
Youll examine statistical theory, application and communication, and learn how to implement theory into software to interpret results. Explore the intricacies of discrete mathematics including combinatorics, graph theory, and modular arithmetic fundamental to both mathematics and computer science. Master essential techniques of calculation and mathematical proof, laying a solid foundation for further study and research.
Gain a deeper understanding of data analytics and quantitative methods to critically analyse data, interpret complex statistical models, and make informed decisions. Youll learn to navigate the rapidly evolving field of data science, understanding its potential and limitations. Beyond data, youll investigate geometry, exploring a range of geometric concepts and the power of mathematical proof. The geometry course is ideal for aspiring mathematics educators and anyone seeking to develop strong logical and deductive reasoning skills.

IB Diploma
24Use the ATAR 65 band together with the relevant qualification and prerequisite requirements.
If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package. When the student successfully completes the approved pathway at the required level, the university may accept that pathway for English entry without requiring a new IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result. Always confirm exclusions for professional registration courses and the offer conditions.
