Course overview
Our Bachelor of Mathematics provides you with a solid grounding in the theories, principles and technical skills essential to mathematical sciences. Preparing you for an exciting and unpredictable career interpreting numbers, shapes, patterns and relationships.
You'll build a deep knowledge of the abstract theories used in mathematics and statistical modelling. Learn fundamental concepts in calculus, algebra, statistics and data taming. You might even get the opportunity to define and interpret problems in our specialised Maths Clinic - where you'll develop appropriate solutions for real business problems.
But it's not all theory - you'll sharpen your technical and professional skills on real-world industry projects. You may even decide to pursue further research with an additional honours year.
You'll graduate with the expertise to apply your knowledge and skills on mathematical-based challenges across a variety of industries - in fields like biostatistics, business, marketing and education and more.
What you'll learn
In first year, you'll be introduced to foundational mathematics concepts and principles that are applicable across a range of future careers. You'll learn about differential and integral calculus and statistical methods, discovering how maths can be applied to real-world problems.
In your second year, you'll apply mathematical theories and practices to explore more advanced topics in linear algebra, mathematical modelling and differential equations.
In your third year, you'll build important industry relationships with Adelaide University partners. You might do this through our specialised Maths Clinic, an internship or a supervised project. You'll have the opportunity to build your communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills - highly sought after by employers.
