Course overview

The Diploma of Business provides the core business knowledge and skills needed to move into management roles or become an entrepreneur and launch your own company. You'll learn to research, analyse and interpret domestic and international environments so you can identify and plan business proposals.

This course teaches you the fundamentals of communication, marketing and management. The course promotes critical thinking skills that are used to create strategic business and marketing plans and identify business opportunities. The Diploma of Business consists of eight subjects, including four core subjects and four elective subjects, so you can tailor the course to fit your career goals. Upon completion, you can use your credits to enter the second year of a Bachelor of Business program.

Areas of Study: Business communications, customer experience management, understanding people and organisations, marketing fundamentals. Students can also choose electives in the areas of foundations of business information systems, integrated marketing communication, introduction to entrepreneurship, sales and negotiation strategies.

Career Opportunities: Administrative officer, accounts clerk, customer services officer, project officer.

Standard entry

  • Recent secondary Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or equivalent recent year 12 qualification (including the International Baccalaureate Diploma). Higher Ed Completed or partially completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or Completed a University Foundation Studies, Bridging or Enabling program Work-Life Other Completed a non-recent SACE or equivalent secondary education qualification with a competitive selection rank, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), or STAT multiple choice test (optional), or Personal competencies and/or employment experience (optional) If you have studied at higher education level in the last two years, you must not have accumulated more than a total of two full-time years of higher education study in order to use your STAT/PCA/Employment results. If you have been employed in the Australian Defence Force you may be eligible to apply for an undergraduate course on the basis of your service. See here .
