This combined degree allows students to complete qualifications in Business Economics and International Relations and Political Science with a combined study plan to reduce the overall duration of the course. The Bachelor of Business Economics provides students with the opportunity to develop broad economics knowledge and competencies to facilitate careers in commercial business-related fields. The Bachelor of International Relations and Political Science aims to provide students with a comprehensive grounding in the core political science disciplines of international relations, politics and public policy and an understanding of Australia's political system and its place within the regional and global context.

Positioned adjacent to the Adelaide Railway Station on North Terrace and central to trams and buses, the City Campus provides students with greater connection, convenience and accessibility when selecting their preferred study location.

Please note only Year 1 and 2 topics are available for enrolment in 2025. If you have been granted credit transfer or wish to apply for credit based on previous study, you may not be able to enrol in Year 3 topics or higher until 2026.

In the Bachelor of Business Economics students will be encouraged and supported to develop transferable interpersonal and professional capabilities, including the capability to be reflective, self-evaluating and critically engaged. There is a focus on application of economics knowledge, competencies and capabilities to diverse and global commercial business/organisation contexts. Students will apply their economics knowledge and competencies to a broad range of commercial business/organisational practices including systems and processes, planning, supply management, production, operations, logistics and the use of current and emerging data and analytical practices. Focus on the principles of economics and how to apply these to the practical needs of business. You'll gain a clear understanding of relevant economic concepts and principles, and learn how to respond to changes in the economic environment. The degree provides you with practical experience that prepares you for the workforce.

On completion of this degree students will be able to critically apply broad theoretical and technical economic knowledge and skills to inform accounting, finance, economics and management planning and analyse commercial business practices and decisions using theoretical and technical knowledge of regulatory, governance, compliance, legal requirements and the economic environment. Students will be able to apply theoretical knowledge, technical competencies and critical judgement to provide recommendations for business planning. This degree prepares graduates for a wide range of employment opportunities or further study. Potential occupations may include equity advisor, data analyst and business consultant; potential employers may include government agencies and private sector businesses.

In the Bachelor of International Relations and Political Science students will have the opportunity to explore political parties and institutions, interest groups and electoral systems, health and welfare policy, political theory, comparative politics and political economy, international political economy, globalisation, international relations theory, diplomacy, strategy and foreign policy, international terrorism, security studies and development studies.

On completion of the International Relations and Political Science degree students will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the central analytical concepts within the disciplines of politics, public policy and international relations and employ specialist theoretical knowledge to analyse issues in international and domestic political contexts. Students will be able to apply their professional knowledge to the formulation of policies, the provision of policy and political advice and analysis, and the undertaking of research and apply their professional knowledge in relation to the changing regulatory role of government, and its interactions with business and non-government sectors in domestic or international contexts. This degree prepares graduates for a wide range of employment opportunities or further study. Potential occupations may include policy analyst, diplomat and public relations specialist; potential employers may include government agencies and private sector businesses.

This degree provides students with practical experience that prepares them for the workforce. Students will gain hands-on experience through Work-Integrated Learning and industry placement programs, as well as immerse themselves in live industry projects with the New Venture Institute and engage with businesses in a real-world environment.
