Prepare yourself for a global career with the Bachelor of Business (International Business). You'll learn about how culture, language, political systems and socio-economic factors affect international business practice. Apply your understanding of cultural differences and the principles of trade and management, integrating cultural understanding with your skills in core business disciplines of finance, marketing, human resource (HR) management and global sustainability. The Bachelor of Business (International Business) provides students with the opportunity to develop broad knowledge and competencies to facilitate careers in business-related fields. Students will be encouraged and supported to develop transferable interpersonal and professional capabilities, including the capability to be reflective, self-evaluating and critically engaged. There is a focus on application of knowledge, competencies and capabilities to diverse and global business/organisational contexts. Students will apply their knowledge and competencies to a broad range of business/organisational practices including systems and processes, planning, production, operations and the use of current and emerging data and analytical practices.

Most business professionals will, in some way, be impacted by international influences and the prospects of doing business with partners from other countries. This degree provides a sound knowledge of business combined with specialised studies in an international context, with topics covering the international business environment, including management, marketing, trade, negotiations, finance, and import-export theory and practice.

On completion of this degree students will be able to critically apply broad theoretical and technical accounting, finance, economic, marketing, and human resources management knowledge and skills to inform management planning and analyse management practices and decisions using theoretical and technical knowledge of regulatory, governance, compliance and legal requirements. Students will be able to explain the impact of socially responsible, ethical, economic, regulatory, sustainability, governance and global perspectives on management planning and practices.

This degree provides students with practical experience that prepares them for the workforce. Students will gain hands-on experience through Work-Integrated Learning and industry placement programs, as well as immerse themselves in live industry projects with the New Venture Institute and engage with businesses in a real-world environment. This degree prepares graduates for a wide range of employment opportunities or further study. Potential occupations may include international strategy project officer, international marketing officer and export trade facilitator; potential employers may include government agencies and private sector businesses.

Combining degrees enables students to follow their interests and aspirations and enhance their career prospects by undertaking a second area of study in addition to their primary degree. Completing an approved combined degree option will normally add at least one extra year (full-time equivalent) to their studies. For example, students combining two three-year full-time equivalent degrees are normally able to complete both degrees in four years of full-time equivalent study.
