Course overview

The Bachelor of Business majoring in Event Management and Tourism combines practical learning, based on solving real-world problems, with the skills to analyse and understand key issues in a diverse and rapidly evolving industry. It delves into contemporary themes in business, event and tourism management, including sustainable tourism development, destination marketing, event design and management. This degree provides students with the fundamental knowledge, contemporary case studies, workplace skills development and industry experience to pursue a career in business, event management and tourism. Students completing this degree will graduate with the award of Bachelor of Business.

Students will also explore technological innovations and their impact on people and workplaces to create impact. Graduates will be able to evaluate and apply business practices and decisions using systems thinking from a local and global perspective along with developing a critical and theoretical understanding of current trends in local, national, and global tourism and events industries. Contemporary approaches to event design and management , emphasising best practices, and how to identify opportunities for developing, marketing, and managing new forms of tourism both domestically and internationally form part of the curriculum.

Practical experience

This degree provides students with practical experience that prepares them for the workforce. Students will gain hands-on experience through Work-Integrated Learning in both the tourism and event industries, as well as build professional experience with hands-on industry placements, community projects and research projects.
