Course overview

As a graduate of QUT’s Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Mathematics double degree, you’ll possess a unique blend of theoretical and technical knowledge across both disciplines. You’ll understand foundational IT principles and contemporary technologies, alongside mathematical, statistical and computational techniques. Your training will include mathematical theory, modelling and computational methods to solve practical and abstract problems.

You’ll identify challenges and design innovative solutions using analytical, creative and problem-solving skills. Thinking critically and strategically, you’ll justify solutions with broad impact. You’ll build and manage secure IT systems and apply mathematical techniques to complex issues. Your dual expertise will support data analysis, algorithm development and business process optimisation.

You’ll integrate IT and mathematical knowledge to drive innovation and efficiency. With resilience and a growth mindset, you’ll adapt to evolving technologies. Strong communication skills will help you convey complex ideas across disciplines. You’ll engage with First Nations communities and apply ethical, sustainable practices in both IT and mathematics. Through internships, capstone projects and Work Integrated Learning (WIL), you’ll gain hands-on experience and graduate ready to contribute meaningfully to both fields.
