Course overview

The Bachelor of Talmud is designed to equip the student with both a wide-reaching knowledge of the Talmudic corpus and an in-depth knowledge of the varied approaches of many Codifiers and Commentators.

Thus, the sequence of courses in Talmud will focus on breadth, while those in Talmudic Commentaries will focus on depth.

The Bachelor of Rabbinic Thought is aimed at equipping the student with the knowledge of a wide range of Rabbinic Literature outside of pure Talmudic studies - including Bible Commentators, practical Halacha (Jewish Law) in various areas, philosophical and ethical works and the methods of Halacha decision-making.

Since Talmudic and Rabbinical studies operate as a seamless web, acquisition of competence in only one of these spheres would represent a false picture of these areas of Jewish studies. It is for this reason that the two degrees are only offered as a Combined Degree to be taken over six years.
