Course overview

Choose a Marketing major and get ready for a rewarding career. You'll gain a solid understanding of core business and marketing studies, preparing you to work in an evolving marketplace where customers’ needs are continually changing.

You’ll learn a range of marketing theories and practical marketing solutions from experts, covering topics including consumer behaviour and marketing strategy.

The course comprises 24 units, including core business units, specialist units, elective units and a stream of Business Challenge units, which are designed to build your skills in critical thinking, academic writing, teamwork, problem solving, project management career preparedness, with an entrepreneurial mindset, and global perspective. You can also complete a second major from 11 business fields, to broaden your career prospects. Work-Integrated Learning units are available and provide opportunities to apply learnings and enhance practical work skills preparing students for employment.

Educational outcomes considered for selection

Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (VCE or equivalent).

SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).

Applicants who wish other criteria to be considered such as work/life experience or motivation to study should complete the VTAC Personal Statement.

Supporting documentation should include a current resume and any other relevant evidence e.g. letter from employer, professional development activities etc.

Applicants with Higher Education study

Entire academic record

This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations.

Bridging and enabling courses

Completion of a bridging or enabling course e.g.

Foundation course or equivalent.

Domestic applicants who have completed Foundations at VU (JYAC) will be guaranteed entry into this course.

Higher Education studies

Applicants must have successfully completed or partially completed an Australian Higher Education award (or equivalent) or successfully completed a single unit of Higher Education studies.

Applicants with VET study

VET studies

Applicants must have successfully completed an Australian Advanced Diploma or Diploma (or equivalent) or the Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation (or equivalent).

Applicants with work and life experience

Applicants must demonstrate 5 years (minimum) work/life experience in business, commerce or a similar industry.

Applicants without work/life experience or further study since leaving Senior Secondary School will be assessed on their Australian Senior Secondary (VCE or equivalent) results.
