Course overview

Deakin's professionally accredited Bachelor of Forensic Science exposes you to the full scope of modern forensic science, from simulated crime scenes to courtroom presentations. With a strong focus on practical training, you will graduate with the skills needed to confidently examine, interpret and present forensic evidence. Enhance your courtroom skills by building knowledge of the science behind criminal investigations and gain practical experience in our unique crime scene training facility. You will cover a wide range of disciplines including illicit drugs analysis, DNA analysis and more. You can customise your degree to your interests by selecting to specialise in forensic biology or forensic chemistry. You will then learn how to apply modern forensic analysis in authentic environments like Deakin’s purpose-built training facilities. Deakin is the first university in the Asia-Pacific region to offer a professionally accredited forensic science degree.

Current Year 12 graduates

ATAR

This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations.

Supplementary form

2025 Deakin Regional Access Scheme (DRAS) applications are now open for current Year 12 students.

Applicants must adhere to relevant DRAS and VTAC deadlines.

In order to be considered for an offer, applicants must (1) complete the DRAS application, found at: https://www.deakin.edu.au/study/how-to-apply/special-entry-access-scheme/deakin-regional-access-scheme and (2) preference the DRAS course in VTAC.

Subject adjustment

A study score of 30 in any English, any Mathematics or any Science equals 2 aggregate points per study.

Overall maximum of 10 points.

SEAS (Special Entry Access Scheme)

Applicants who have experienced educational disadvantage are encouraged to apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS).

Depending on eligibility and your circumstances, a SEAS application may provide support for your course application.
