Course overview

Youth Work is an exciting and challenging career working for and with young people. The key thing that differentiates youth workers from other community service workers is that young people are their primary concern. Youth Work acknowledges the social and cultural environments within which young people live and helps them establish a voice and sense of place in their communities. In addition to the specified Youth Work units, students study sociology, choose electives from the broad suite of offerings in the Bachelor of Arts and undertake 500 hours of valuable field placement. This course responds to community needs for highly trained youth workers to work with young people. It’s an inclusive program that will provide you with both theoretical insights and the practical skills needed to become an effective and empathetic youth worker.
