Course overview

The Bachelor of Music - Performance is for instrumentalists and vocalists looking to establish themselves as professional musicians. You will specialise in either contemporary or classical music under the tuition of masters. You will write, record, perform and work in ensembles alongside your peers on major projects whilst developing your own original sound. You will learn how to execute the full music lifecycle, from concept to commercial release.

You will also have the opportunity to gain additional skills in composition, creative audio technologies, music theatre and the business of music through a vast range of electives that draw upon AIM’s full Bachelor of Music program. Refine your musicianship, develop your theory and gain the skills and confidence you need to perform onstage and in the studio at a world-class level.

Standard entry

  • Applicants under 21 (including current Year 12s) Applicants under the age of 21 must provide evidence of at least one of the following: satisfactory completion of HSC (Higher School Certificate) including a minimum of English Standard. Note that any result below a Band 3 in English Standard may require further assessment. satisfactory completion of IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma qualification satisfactory completion of an AQF VET qualification (Certificate IV and above, or equivalent as assessed by DET) satisfactory completion of at least 6 months full-time tertiary study (AQF level 5 or higher). Applicants with work and life experience Applicants who are 21 years of age or older at the time of application are entitled to mature-age consideration. Mature-age applicants may obtain entry by performing to a satisfactory level in an audition and/or digital portfolio and/or interview. For applicants who do not meet the above criteria, admission may be granted by the Director of Academic Affairs or nominee based on a documented assessment of the applicant's overall ability to undertake the program of study and to achieve the course learning outcomes.
