Course overview

Counselling and psychotherapy is a multidisciplinary approach to clinical practice that considers equally the biological, cultural, sociological, psychological, philosophical, spiritual, and psychodynamic factors when working with individuals or groups. The integration of these disciplines helps people focus on their dynamic and multidimensional lives and move forward in a healing and holistic sense.

The Bachelor of Counselling and Psychotherapy is designed to give students a broad knowledge of psychotherapy and therapeutic skills, with emphasis on a model of psychotherapeutic practice for the ‘whole person’. You will learn traditional healing methods and emerging practices and theories in mental health such as consciousness research and transpersonal perspectives.  Electives include a range of innovative and contemporary fields of practice such as eco-psychotherapy, dreams and symbols, eastern practice and western psychotherapy, and sound therapy.

The course is suitable for students with no prior learning in counselling and psychotherapy as well as those who may have completed a counselling course and wish to develop their knowledge and skills to integrate psychotherapy into their existing work as a practitioner.
