Course overview

The Bachelor of Game Development – Major in Game Art is a specialist degree that targets the development of artistic, creative, cognitive and technical skills required by game artists. You will gain a deep critical understanding of digital game art and production through:

  • critical analysis of games and animations
  • creation of levels, avatars and animations in highly advanced game projects.

Developed in conjunction with Australia’s leading game studios, AIE Institute degree programs are continuously reviewed in close consultation with industry and delivered by industry-experienced faculty.

The Bachelor of Game Development program mirrors the practices, workflows and standards of the game development industry, ensuring you will graduate work ready. From the first semester of the degree, you will work on group projects in a dynamic and multidisciplinary studio-simulated environment. You will also learn fundamental business knowledge and skills tailored to the requirements of the game industry, preparing you to launch your own game products and operate a sustainable game studio.

You will graduate from the Bachelor of Game Development as a highly qualified and academically trained individual with skills in high demand by the games industry. Highly skilled in the utilisation of tools and the creation of innovative and immersive digital game content, you will be a critical thinker, technical entrepreneur and cultural ambassador for the game industry.

Applicants with recent secondary education

AIE Institute degrees do not have an ATAR requirement.

Note: Once applicants have applied through UAC, they are required to undertake an interview on campus or online.

Applicants with higher education study

Diploma or higher from an accredited Australian higher education institution.

Applicants may be required to attend an interview and/or submit a portfolio.

Diploma or higher from an accredited Australian vocational education institution.

Applicants with work and life experience

One of the following:

  • foundation studies program or preparatory program recognised for admission purposes by another Australian higher education provider
  • relevant work experience that demonstrates equivalence to the entry requirements will be assessed for admission.
