The University of Canberra’s writing program is the oldest of its kind in Australia, with a long and established record of excellence. The Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing) is staffed by award-winning, industry-active novelists, poets, screenwriters, editors and publishers who’ll help you emerge from your degree with an impressive portfolio of dynamic, creative and professional work.
You’ll have the opportunity to experiment in different modes of creative writing, including fiction, poetry, writing for young people, screenwriting, creative non-fiction, writing about place, and in intersection with the visual arts. You’re encouraged to explore a minor in Literary Studies, since all writers need to read to see what is possible and relevant. Creative Writing at UC accentuates skills development in the context of dynamic experiences. You’ll learn to craft narratives, manipulate language and pursue analysis, and will graduate with a broad and flexible set of skills and knowledge.
