Course overview

In the Bachelor of International Studies, you’ll collaborate with changemakers, research experts and global communities to co-create practical responses to emerging global needs. You’ll explore the political, social and economic drivers of change, and develop your own adaptive toolkit – blending cultural intelligence, storytelling, tech fluency, mediation and strategic thinking. Whether your interests lie in public policy, global business, diplomacy, social enterprise or tech ethics, you’ll graduate with a real-world portfolio; an international network; and the ability to anticipate disruption, engage diverse perspectives and collaborate globally. Our unique Bachelor of Security Studies will equip you with the skills to navigate the global security landscape with confidence. As the only degree in New South Wales specialising in security – and the only one in Australia to take a truly multidisciplinary approach spanning counterterrorism, cybersecurity, intelligence, and strategy and defence – it will provide you with capabilities that set you apart. Guided by academics who are active practitioners in policing, defence and national security, you’ll build in-demand skills in risk mitigation, intelligence analysis and strategic planning. And with our location in the Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District, you’ll have opportunities to network with organisations driving advances in security and defence, such as NEXTDC, Raytheon Australia, Meridian IT and Hubify.
