Course overview

Health promotion offers solutions to health problems that our society is facing today. This double degree develops expertise in the areas of nutrition and health promotion through the development of knowledge and skills in nutrition and principles of health promotion planning. You’ll implement and evaluate public health nutrition and health and nutrition promotion programs, and explore principles related to primary health service, and strategies and methods for promotion and evaluation. You’ll also explore health issues such as alcohol and other drugs, injury control, cancer, physical activity and mental health.

In this double degree, the combined component of health promotion and nutrition will develop your knowledge and skills in the processes of planning, evaluating health promotion programs and core studies in human biology, behavioural sciences, research methods and epidemiology. From first year you will participate in inter-professional education opportunities. There is emphasis on practical training necessary for a graduate to work as a public health or community nutritionist.

Practical Experience / Workbased Learning: Students complete a professional practice placement in the fourth year of their course.

Applicants with work and life experience STAT elements considered: Written English and either Verbal or Quantitative. STAT alone is not accepted for entry: applicants must also meet the course prerequisites.
