Course overview

NIDA's Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Theatre and Stage Management) provides education and training to the technical theatre practitioners and stage managers of the future. The course focuses on the innovative and effective ways successful practitioners manage and integrate technical fields within live performance, film, television and event contexts. At its core, the course explores the opportunities for collaboration that occur when performance and technology intersect. A key feature is the broad range of knowledge and experience with which students engage during the course, preparing them to succeed in leadership roles that require creative, technical and managerial expertise across multiple technical fields. During the course, students are given the opportunity to experience a wide range of technical theatre and stage management roles as stage managers, technical managers, technical designers and crew on NIDA's many productions and projects, as well as through an industry placement.
