Course overview
The Associate Degree in Applied Science has been designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the rapidly-advancing fields of biotechnology and biomedicine. Working largely in a laboratory setting, you will learn essential skills in problem solving and teamwork to help you work effectively in industry. Through your studies, you'll explore the principles of chemistry, biology, anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and more. You will also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a professional environment with a work placement, allowing you to receive feedback from industry specialists.

Standard entry
- You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent qualification). Prerequisites: ATAR AND Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in English other than EAL
- or a study score of at least 23 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent studies AND Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics or equivalent studies. RANKING AND ADJUSTMENT FACTORS: Entry to this program is competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors. You may be eligible to receive adjustment factors which include equity access schemes and/or subject adjustments to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points. If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package. When the student successfully completes the approved pathway at the required level, the university may accept that pathway for English entry without requiring a new IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result.
