The Bachelor of Biomedical Science provides a strong professional and industry focus. Students obtain a solid foundation in both biological and medical sciences, and practical experimentation through extensive theoretical knowledge and advanced laboratory skills. This course provides in-depth understanding of how the body works at the cellular level, what causes disease and the techniques of laboratory diagnosis of disease, including the expanding area of molecular-based diagnostic techniques. Standard entry
- Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0
- or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21
- or PTE: 58-64

- and at least one science subject. HSC Mathematics Extension 1 and Chemistry are recommended. Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0 Or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21 Or AE5: Pass Or PTE: 58-64 Or CAE: 176-184. Assumed knowledge includes: Mathematics English And at least one science subject. HSC Mathematics Extension 1 and Chemistry are recommended.
If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package. When the student successfully completes the approved pathway at the required level, the university may accept that pathway for English entry without requiring a new IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result.
