Course overview

The Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation (Honours) involves one additional year of study following the successful completion of a relevant undergraduate degree. An Honours research project allows you to explore an approved research question of your choosing through extended study in the liberal arts. Honours study will equip you with marketable skills of value to many employers. On successful completion of an Honours degree, you will demonstrate your ability to produce a sustained research outcome, meet deadlines, investigate independently, use resources effectively and write coherently.

Standard entry

Entry requires a Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation or another relevant bachelor's degree, with an average of at least 80% (normally) in the core Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation subjects or across a relevant major in which the Honours degree will be undertaken.

Additionally, a Distinction is required in two of the 300-level subjects required by the major.

English requirement
IELTS Academic 8.5, no band below 8.5

If your current English result is below direct entry, consider the university-recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package; successful completion at the required level can usually satisfy English entry without another English test.
