Our Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a masters level degree that provides students with world class clinical and research training. On completion, graduates are eligible for provisional registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a medical practitioner. Our Doctor of Medicine (MD) is suitable for graduates from any discipline who are interested in becoming a doctor and have a passion for healthcare.

Entry requirements

Postgraduate and higher courses usually use academic prerequisites, degree equivalence and English-language requirements.

Postgraduate entry

To be eligible for admission to the Doctor of Medicine in 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Satisfactory performance in an eligible bachelors degree at the time of application, as indicated by Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • Satisfactory performance in an admissions test Domestic applicants must submit eligible Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test (GAMSAT) results with their application.

International applicants must submit eligible GAMSAT or Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) results with their application.

English requirement
IELTS Academic 7, no band below 7PTE Academic 72, no component below 72TOEFL iBT 96 (L 23 / R 23 / W 25 / S 23)

If your current English result is below direct entry, consider the university-recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package; successful completion at the required level can usually satisfy English entry without another English test.
