Master of History

The Master of History (Online) is a pathway to deepen research skills and historical expertise. Taught by world-leading researchers and prize-winning historians, the program offers a focused curriculum that builds historical knowledge and a strong grounding in historical methodologies, research skills, and historiographical developments and debates. The core curriculum is designed to acquaint students with key areas of historical inquiry while allowing them to pursue their own interests. The program offers breadth and depth of content, across the globe, and from the ancient world to the present. Undertaking studies in the School of History allows you to work with First Nations historians to explore global Indigenous history; draw on the resources of the Australian Dictionary of Biography and National Centre for Biography to write biographical history; and work with experts to pursue interdisciplinary environmental history projects. The Master of History is designed as a launching pad for those seeking to embark on further research, to refine their historical research and writing skills, and to pursue their passion for historical knowledge. The Master of History is available online to accommodate remote, regional and off-shore students, who participate in seminar discussion via video-conferencing. Courses are scheduled and offered in ways to accommodate those balancing study with employment. The Online Master of History is distinct from the face-to-face Master of History, but many courses are shared between the online and face-to-face Masters. The Master of History Online is available to offshore students.
