Course overview
Advance your knowledge and research skills in an area of law of your choice with Bonds Doctor of Legal Science (Research) (SJD) program, a higher degree by research program combining coursework and a thesis on an approved topic. The coursework is comprised of six postgraduate law subjects. The thesis is a written work that a significant and original contribution to our knowledge or understanding of an aspect of law and that demonstrates your capacity to engage in independent research. (Students with a Master of Laws (LLM) have the option to reduce the coursework component in lieu of a longer thesis.)

Postgraduate entry
- Applicants must have a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor with Honours, Master of Laws degree or equivalent.
If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package. When the student successfully completes the approved pathway at the required level, the university may accept that pathway for English entry without requiring a new IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result. Always confirm exclusions for professional registration courses and the offer conditions.
