The primary aim of the Bachelor of Mathematics (Honours) is to provide a strong and practical foundation both for professional employment and for undertaking research work either in an academic setting or in industry. Advanced theory, professional training (where appropriate), and a research project that leads to a research paper or thesis are therefore incorporated within the course.

Standard entry
You must have a recognised bachelor degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) score of 5.00 (on QUT's 7-point scale) completed within the last 5 years in one of the fields of: computer science
economics
engineering
finance
mathematics
physics

If you do not meet the grade point average requirement but you have: Excelled in the final semesters of your degree
Completed a double degree and excelled in the business or commerce part of your double degree

If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package. When the student successfully completes the approved pathway at the required level, the university may accept that pathway for English entry without requiring a new IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result.
