Bachelor of Arts

As a major area of study within the Bachelor of Arts, the music program will provide students with a broad exposure to a variety of musical genres, including Classical, Jazz, Popular and Music Theatre as well as some exposure to World Music. In performance, students may specialise in one or more musical styles. Courses will extend students in their solo and ensemble performance, aural, arranging, compositional and theoretical skills, as well as increase their knowledge and appreciation of the history of music. The major has been designed with specific professional outcomes for musicians in a contemporary music and education settings. Outside of the music major, students also undertake a range of core and elective study aimed at fostering such essential skills as critical thinking, written and spoken communication, and research skills, informed by historical, global and Christian ethical and spiritual perspectives.
