Course overview
Being a teacher is a great way to make a difference in the world! The Bachelor of Education at Tabor provides you opportunity to positively impact young people through the teaching profession. The School of Education and its Professional Experience office places you in a school setting early in first semester and, over the entire course, provides you with 110 days of Professional Experience in a variety of school settings and sectors.
The Bachelor of Education (Primary) (years R-7) prepares pre-service teachers (you) to understand the unique needs (social, spiritual, emotional and cognitive learning) of the various age ranges of primary students. This academically rigorous course includes interactive lectures and substantial practical professional experience in a range of schools. On campus classes are scheduled Monday to Friday and may include some evenings.
Employment opportunities exist for graduates in local, regional, interstate and international settings and employers include the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD), Catholic Education Australia, Lutheran schools, Christian and other independent schools. Learning at Tabor is underpinned by a Christian worldview perspective.
A two-year Master of Teaching (Primary) award also prepares students for the teaching profession. Applicants for the Master of Teaching (Primary) must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree with studies in learning areas relevant to the Australian Curriculum (Primary).
