Course overview

See Bachelor of Arts (444341) for more information.

This program provides students with a deep understanding of the historic and contemporary contexts that inform film, television and digital media. Learn about the formal language of film and media through written and creative forms of assessment. Study courses that explore Hollywood, global cinema, film and media theory, authorship, genres, experimental media and popular culture.

Students will be equipped with a foundation in film and media history, theory, production of experimental media artefacts and professional practice. This program would suit those students wishing to move into the television, film or theatre sectors.

This program enables students to explore and develop their interests through a wide diversity of experiences and opportunities, including community and industry engagement, overseas exchange programs and/or the prestigious Hawke Ambassador Program.

Our Bachelor of Arts graduates are valued by employers because of their abilities to gather and assess information, to think critically and innovatively across diverse areas of knowledge, and to communicate clearly and creatively. The broad base of the degree, with its double major and minor, ensures a program that is tailor-made for each student's interests and aspirations, and equips graduates to be career-ready and adaptable in a rapidly changing world.

If you finish your degree with a credit or higher-grade point average (GPA) you could also be eligible for the one-year Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree.
