Course overview

The Criminology degree at Flinders aims to prepare undergraduates for successful careers in the criminal justice sector and related fields through a comprehensive understanding of crime and social harm. Flinders Criminology values and actively fosters critical thinking about and applying criminological concepts to produce social impact. Students will critically examine the causes, experiences, and ways of preventing crime and social harm through both individual and systemic lenses and apply quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills to generate innovative and practical solutions within professional settings in and beyond the field of criminology.

Graduates can create a positive social impact by undertaking a future-focused and socially responsible curriculum designed in partnership with industry. They will have a comprehensive understanding of applied criminology, a nuanced understanding of how criminal justice systems function to deliver justice in Australia and abroad, and policy analysis and writing skills as well as strategic thinking skills that equip them to succeed in policy and research roles in the criminal justice sector.
