Course overview
This combined degree allows students to complete qualifications in Laws - Legal Practice Entry and Business with a combined study plan to reduce the overall duration of the degree. The Bachelor of Laws - Legal Practice Entry aims to provide students with a sound training in law and legal skills and emphasise the acquisition on foundation legal skills through the integration of skills training with the teaching of substantive subjects. The Bachelor of Business provides you with the fundamental knowledge, contemporary case studies, workplace skills development and live industry experience to pursue a career in business.
Bachelor of Laws - Legal Practice Entry
The Bachelor of Laws - Legal Practice Entry instils in students a desire for just outcomes, a broad outlook on law and a commitment to ethical conduct and equips students to develop an innovation and entrepreneurial mindset to respond to 21st century opportunities.
Flinders Law students will be able to demonstrate an extensive and well-founded knowledge of key areas of current Australian law, including new and developing areas with the ability to find, interpret, understand and critique Australian law within its historical and comparative contexts, using effective learning strategies and appropriate methods, including both recent and traditional technologies.
Students will have the ability to use their knowledge to plan, analyse and think critically, logically and creatively, including by reflecting upon and evaluating facts, ideas, options and resolutions to disputes and debates, and considering client instructions and the requirements of procedural and jurisdictional contexts and an awareness of the philosophy and the social and global contexts of law, and willingness to uphold their community responsibility to advocate for justice and to act with integrity in all matters in their professional work and personal lives.
Practical Experience in Law
Flinders Law prepares you to become a lawyer and a leader - receive more support, more placements, and more advanced skills. Students will gain cutting-edge practical experience and build networks with industry years before they graduate. Students participate in Work Integrated Learning as part of this degree. Students will be required to undertake a semester-long placement for one day a week in either the Flinders Legal Centre, Digital Law Lab or with an industry partner.
Successful completion of the Bachelor of Laws - Legal Practice Entry provides direct entry to the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, delivered in collaboration with Leo Cussen in the Adelaide CBD. Successful completion of the Bachelor of Laws and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice satisfies the academic and practical requirements underpinning eligibility to be admitted as a barrister and solicitor in any state or territory of Australia.
Bachelor of Business
Our business graduates work throughout the world with the range of opportunities continually expanding. Many of our graduates have gone on to reach very senior positions in both the private and public sectors internationally. Develop strong practical and operational business skills, and gain real-world work experience, building networks through work placements and live industry projects. Students can succeed in their studies with free mentoring and specialised tutor programs, developing valuable work-ready skills through innovative peer review assessment activities.
Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice
Successful applicants to this degree are also issued a conditional offer to the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, subject to meeting progression requirements. Students who would like to become eligible to apply to the Supreme Court for admission to practise as a barrister and solicitor in South Australia must also complete the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice upon completion of their Bachelor degree.
The Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice is a postgraduate award, and is one year in length of full-time study, or the equivalent part-time. Graduates will have the knowledge and skills to apply theoretical understanding of the law to practical situations, and practice as a legal practitioner. it is taught in partnership with Leo Cussen Centre for Law over 5 rotations including Induction, Transactions (Commercial and Corporate Practice and Property Practice), Specialist (2 options), Disputes (Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution), and Profession Ready.
Students who do not want to complete the Legal Practice component can complete the Bachelor degree without obligation to continue to the Graduate Diploma.

33.5Admission is assessed against the qualification, prerequisite and English requirements for the course.
If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package. When the student successfully completes the approved pathway at the required level, the university may accept that pathway for English entry without requiring a new IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result. Always confirm exclusions for professional registration courses and the offer conditions.
