Course overview

Explore the relationship between diet, health, and disease prevention to create long-lasting behavioural changes in government, industry and the community. Promote health and prevent illness in communities around the globe using evidence-based health and medical sciences in this fast growing industry. The Bachelor of Human Nutrition integrates nutrition science knowledge with applied diet, communication and behaviour change skills to develop graduates who can be reflexive in supporting a wide range of people in healthier lifestyles and creating sustainable nutrition practices and environments.

The Bachelor of Human Nutrition aims to produce graduates who can deliver quality nutritional practice within a wide range of settings including nutrition, public health, health and behaviour change education and health promotion. Students can complete a minor in Ageing, Dietetics or Digital Health as part of this degree.

Practical experience

This degree provides students with practical experience that prepares them for the workforce. Students will undertake a 140-hour self-directed placement with industry, or co-create an industry project in an area of your choice, as well as volunteer for nutrition events or industry projects, or gain nutrition experience within the University.

Your career

On completion of this degree students will be able to undertake nutrition practice in a range of settings including public health and health promotion and apply understanding of the principles of primary health care and the impact of social, political, economic, environmental and cultural factors on food choice and the health of individuals, families and communities.

This degree prepares graduates for careers in health education, health promotion and public health sectors. Potential occupations may include consultant nutritionist, health promotion officer and sports nutrition consultant; potential employers may include public and private sector organisations and community based services.

This degree is recognised by the Nutrition Society of Australia.
