Course overview
The Bachelor of Criminology equips graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to truly understand crime and make a real impact in the criminal justice sector and related fields. There are four majors available within this degree: Strategy & Analysis, Criminal Justice, Cybersecurity & Cybercrime and Social Justice. Pursue one of these majors to explore an area of specialised interest and focus your future career, or choose your own adventure and discover areas you're particularly passionate about as you study.
The core topics will give students a strong understanding of the complex forces shaping crime, criminalisation and society's response. The curriculum is future-focused, exploring innovative ways of promoting community safety. Students learn critical-thinking skills, enabling them to apply evidence and challenge stereotypes about crime, victims, and criminalised people.
Your career
On completion of the degree students will be able to critically examine the causes, experiences, and ways of preventing crime and social harm, through both individual and systemic lenses. Graduates will be able to communicate criminological knowledge effectively across a range of technologies and audiences, and use an ethical and compassionate lens to approach the study of crime and justice, in order to foster connection across cultural, socio-economic, and jurisdictional boundaries.
Graduates have enjoyed a wide choice of careers and diverse employment trajectories in Australia and overseas. Many move into employment in the criminal and social justice sectors. Potential occupations may include Police Officer, Forensic Investigator, Corrections Officer, Defence/Intelligence Officer.
