Course overview

The Undergraduate Certificate Introduction to Mathematics and Physics is a course that offers you the opportunity to upskill, reskill and retrain. The course takes 2 semesters and can be completed within half a year by enrolling in an intensive semester and a regular semester or within one year by enrolling in two regular semesters.

Available online or on campus, this course will equip you with core skills in mathematics and physics. It is also a direct pathway into higher education courses in computer science, education, engineering and science, should you wish to continue studying.

On completing the Undergraduate Certificate in Mathematics and Physics, you will be eligible to use the credits you've gained towards further study of a:

  • Bachelor of Computer Science

  • Bachelor of Education Primary

  • Bachelor of Education Secondary

  • Diploma of Engineering

  • Associate Degree of Engineering

  • Bachelor of Engineering Science

  • Bachelor of Engineering Honours

  • Diploma of Science

  • Bachelor of Science

You may also use the Undergraduate Certificate as a pathway for entry into a variety of other higher education courses.

Advanced standing may be granted for some or all of the subjects you successfully complete. If further study is your intention, be sure to check the requirements of your preferred undergraduate degree to determine how many credits you can transfer.

The course provides you with the opportunity to upskill, retrain and reskill in mathematics and physics whilst providing pathways to pursue further study.

  • Recent secondary Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE) or equivalent recent year 12 qualification (including the International Baccalaureate Diploma). Higher Ed Completed or partially completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or Completed a University Foundation Studies, Bridging or Enabling program Work-Life Other Completed a non-recent SACE/NTCE or equivalent secondary education qualification, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), or STAT multiple choice test Personal competencies and/or employment experience (optional) If you have been employed in the Australian Defence Force you may be eligible to apply for an undergraduate course on the basis of your service. English requirement

If the student's current English result is below the direct-entry requirement, consider the university's recognised English language pathway or ELICOS package.
