Diploma of Music in Jazz Performance

The Diploma of Music in Jazz Performance is our intensive one-year program providing the foundational theory, aural, and performance skills needed to kickstart your career as a jazz musician. As a nested qualification within the Bachelor program, it comprises the same curriculum as the first year of the Bachelor degree. Students spend the majority of class time playing their instrument, developing technique, knowledge of harmony, and skills in improvisation and performance. Students learn essential jazz repertoire in both practical and theory classes, developing the ability to analyse form, structure, harmony, melody, and rhythm from different perspectives.
