Bachelor of Social Work (Honours)

After successful completion of your first two years of UniSQ’s Bachelor of Social Work, you may be invited for admission into the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours). Honours enables you to undertake an independent research project that produces a thesis. There are a trio of linked thesis related courses that you will undertake. While you may be able to continue post-graduation to study a higher degree, including a PhD; the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) is also designed to enable you to be employed as a qualified social worker upon graduation with Honours. Providing you meet the entry requirements, Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) students will be given credit for all courses completed in Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Social Work. You also experience two 500-hour industry-based placements where you will be mentored and supervised by an experienced social worker in a chosen field of practice. On placement, you will develop expertise in building relationships, working alongside people to formulate interventions that make a difference to their lives. Upon graduation from UniSQ, you will be an excellent communicator, be able to comprehensively and collaboratively assess individual and community needs, problem solve, advocate for human rights and social justice, navigate complex services and systems, and contribute to policy development and evaluation.
