Students use this flexible program to explore many aspects of science while developing strong critical thinking, technical, and communication skills. They begin with general science and non-science courses before specialising in their chosen fields in the second and third years. UQ offers one of the widest selections of science disciplines in Australia, with access to more than 2200 dedicated teaching and research spaces. Students learn to work with confidence across a range of laboratory settings, including wet, dry, and clinical labs, PC2 and PC3 labs, as well as animal diagnostic, operating, and skills-training labs. The program can be tailored towards students’ interests or specific career goals. Depending on their specialisation, students can enhance their experience through fieldwork, research projects, internships, or international study opportunities. They may also combine their science expertise with studies in language, communication, or design to broaden their skill set. For those interested in a research career, an extra Honours year is available. Students can also choose from 13 dual degree options to further expand their career opportunities.
