The course provides students with the skills and techniques necessary for solving problems associated with a broad range of issues. The extensive range of majors available in established and emerging generalist and specialist sciences are all underpinned by cutting-edge research. In first year students are encouraged to establish a broad science base that allows for flexibility in choosing an appropriate major, majors or a major and a minor. Business, primary industries, resource management, water and land resources, environmental protection authorities, analytical and/or forensic laboratories, medical and pharmaceutical research or supply industries. Research and postgraduate study, Masters or PhD are other common pathways for graduates, particularly after the completion of a fourth year of study in Bachelor of Science (Honours).
